Golf - message from Raili

Some reasons why to have golf as a hobby:

Getting outdoors is good for you
When you have been  indoors all day, what is better way to lift your mood than playing a sport in the most beautiful green environment?  Tree-lined courses with lush grass, birdsong and wild flowers.

Combining that with the exercise you get. It's a perfect match
Did you know that during the average game of golf you can walk around five to six kilometers or more depending on your skill level? Playing regularly will help you easily reach the recommended 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week. Golf burns more calories than you’d think: playing an 18-hole game burns at least 900 calories.
Social benefits
Golf is a great way to meet new people – especially if you have recently moved into a new area or town or are travelling abroad. Wherever there’s a golf course, its easy to get new friends.
Health benefits

Golf’s powerful combination of stress-busting exercise, fresh air and camaraderie can help promote long term heart health and raised cholesterol and cut your risk of stroke and diabetes.  Vitamin D maintains strong bones and muscle function and keeps the immune system healthy. Heading outside is a great way to keep your vitamin D levels topped through exposure to sunlight, nicknamed as the ‘sunshine vitamin’

Always learning something new with golf.
It’s never too late to get into go golf!

  1. I don't play golf, but I like to follow the life of two golf courses. One is in Paltamo and the other here in Tapiola. The course in Paltamo is located by Oulujärvi Lake, "the Sea of Kainuu". The lake is it's clue. The landscape is magnificent, beutiful. The lake, large forests, and hills. The golfers walk with their golf bags or drive golf cars on the green lawns. There are cottages for them if someone wants to spend holidays there. I walks along tracks looking all that life.
Tapiola course is new, not yet flourishing. Very windy. But it's lovly to walk there on paths.

    1. Kerttuli, do they let walkers walk freely on golf courses even if you don't play? Are you not worried about being hit by a ball? :-)

  2. Yeah, there are public paths in Paltamo round the golf course. I use to walk along them - but I can scurry on cart paths if a view is magnific there. In Tapiola, it's difficult to know if a path is free or not. The course is odd. But I'm alive - yet.

    1. That's good. Golf balls are very hard, they would hurt!

    2. You can walk the paths of Tapiola Golf area outside the Golf season. It it possible also to ski there, if there is snow enough. Across the golf field there is a footpath which is connected with other foot paths built by Espoo city. The field is fenced only partly, so it is possible to go to the paths. However I have not noticed any tort there.
