A film

Homework: A film

This weekend I saw four documentary films at DocPoint festival. All where interesting but one of them was really extraordinary. It’s name was A German life and It was a story about an old woman who worked as a typewriter in Joseph Goebbels’ propaganda ministry of nazi Germany.

The lady was 103 years old when the film was shot few years ago. Despite she was so old her speech and mind seemed to be very clear. Major part of the film was only her extremely wrinkled face on the screen telling her story. No interviewer or music or anything else was present, just she in closeups against dark wall. Only now and then her speech was interrupted by few short propaganda videos made by the nazis and also some short films showing concentration camps after the war was over.

This woman is still alive and reached the huge age of 107. Without any doubt she is one of the very few still living person who can describe what was the life like in nazi ministry.

The film was really interesting and after seeing it watcher’s mind was quite confused and full of thoughts.

  1. Sirpa, thanks for your post! Is this the same lady who just passed away this week? I read an article about her and she seemed like a very strong lady!
