ICE BREAK EVENT
Boatercross open classes are paddled at Helsinki Vanhankaupunginkoski on Sunday April 9th 2017. If you are interested in kayaking or whitewater rafting or if you just want to spend day outside and enjoy the atmosphere, visit Vantaankoski on Sunday.
It is easy to come by car or by bicycle. At Vanhankaupungikoski you just have to follow a path down to the river. There you can find fast-flowing river with white water kayakers.
From the bridge people have a panoramic view of the river. In my opinion it's the best place to follow the competition.
Wind has been strong last few days but according to weather forecast wind is going to die down.
If weather is getting better and it's not freezing cold anymore, I think there will be hundreds of people enjoying the competition.

Hope the wind and weather will be good for the competition.

Sari, can people rent kayak or do you need to have your own? A nice text - one comment about your otherwise beautiful conditional sentence at the end: we would say " If the weather GETS better...." This is because it is a first conditional and we use present simple in this structure.
ReplyDeleteThey need to have their own.
Delete" If the weather GETS better...." sounds much better, thank you.
Nice new words to me: boatercross, whitewater rafting. Last year I was looking at this competition at Vanhankaupunginlahti. An extreme event, indeed.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we'll meet there this year.
DeleteI forgot the collocations. I agree with Leena' list. Maybe "weather is getting better" too.
ReplyDeleteSari, an interesting event, I suppose. Maybe I have to throw away my old English dictionary, so many new words in your nice text.
ReplyDeleteCollocations: Look Leena I and Kerttuli comments !
