My summer week in Denmark

This summer I spend one week in Denmark with my husband. We drove there by car via bridge of Juutinrauma, which is 16 kilometres long. The most important thing why we travelled to Copenhagen this time were Coldplay's concert in Telia Parken. There were around 40.000 fans and the concert was the best I have ever been. The United Kingdom were just voted for brexit and Chris Martin with his band were very upset about the voting result.

We spend couple of days in Copenhagen and after that we drove via Odense to Aarhus where we went to see ARoS (Aarhus Modern Art of Museum). There is Your Rainbow Panorama on the top floor which is 360 degrees around stained with a rainbow colors.

On the ground floor we found Australian artist Ron Mueck's 4.5-meter-high sculpture The Boy. The sculpture weighs over 500 pounds and it was huge!

After Aarhus we drove to the north to Skagen. The sea and the beach there are very beautiful and the place where the Danish North Sea meets the Baltic Sea is worth of seeing.

Denmark is a beautiful country and Danes are very friendly. These are the reasons why I want to return there time after time.

  1. Hi Tarja. Thanks so much for your post. Sounds like you had a great week! That sculpture is huge, and rather strange. Do you know what material it is made of?

    1. Mueck uses silicone, fiberglass, resin and calcium carbonate in his sculptures.

He had an exhibition also here in Finland, Tampere during this summer and there was possibility to see also a film about his working process. The film illustrated well how many different steps his works includes before a sculpture is ready. It was amazing and all his sculptures looks so realistic!

I found one film from youtube where the group is making the baby:
