California

After watching the video this evening about the droughts in California, I thought about a trip I made there a few years back. Here are some photos from that trip.

This is from Death Valley - lots of sand! And very hot. There were signs at the bottom of the hills telling drivers to switch off aircon when going uphill because cars might struggle with the temperature and break down. That's the last thing you want to happen!

This is my sister, and it is 39 degrees.

I love this photo. It is from a small town called Independence. I think the photo perfectly encapsulates the sleepiness and silence of this town with Death Valley on one side and Sequoia National Park on the other.

  1. Hello,
Wow, these are really great photos. Such a hot desert, especially the time you had to turn off the car's cooler.
But I know you enjoied it as your sister accompanied you.

  2. It was very hot, and I don't like hot. But it was a good holiday :-)

  3. Landscapes like in your photos are dizzying. I have seen them in movies only, and these dry, deserted towns and mountains are unpleasant. But I should travel there and see them myself!

  4. Thanks, Kerttuli. As for the name that comes up when you post, it must be something t do with your account. You should be able to change it in the settings. But it is not necessary for our purposes, we know who you are now!

  5. I like also very much the photo of the town called Independence. The mountains and the valley, some buildings and trees around them. Sun is rising or setting. Beautiful.
